Join the Shire stand at a show this summer!

Believe it or not we’re not just about playing in the mud – there’s a whole lot of social stuff and shows the club attends and members are always welcome to bring their vehicles and show them off. It can be a great day or weekend out and people love to see Land Rovers in amongst all the shiny stuff.

The club has stands at several shows over the summer, which usually also means anyone bringing their vehicle on the stand gets discounted entry too – if you’d like to come to any of them please drop us a message or chat to one of the committee.

Upcoming shows:

  • April 6th – Newbury Land Rover spares day – no discount here but going in convoy with other members means someone can watch your stand while you go bargain hunting.
  • May 11th – Basingstoke Festival Of Transport – a great day out with a huge range of vehicles from bikes to tank transporters, come & show your vehicle with us!
  • June 14th-15th – National 4×4 & Camper Festival – All things camper & overland, join us for a few beers round the campfire!
  • June 19th-22nd – Abentur Allrad, Germany – a massive overland show in Germany, a group of us are going to see what it’s all about.
  • June 21st-22nd – Thruxton Retro – Closer to home this is a great weekend of classic racing, car displays, and camping. Come and join us on the banking and maybe even for a lap of the circuit!
  • July 6th – Simply Land Rover, Beaulieu – A great day out, with entry to the museum included and a wide range of Land Rovers on display. Join us on the club stand!
  • August 22nd-24th – Silverstone Festival – An amazing weekend of classic racing, live music, and thousands of classic cars on display as well as a Formula 1 celebration. Join us on the club stand

Get involved & help the club!

For any club to survive a committee is required. The committee makes decisions as a collective group and hold joint responsibility for decisions and actions taken. The committee is responsible for ensuring that all decisions are taken in the best interests of the club.

The Shire committee meet once a month and organise events from green lane days to weekend events. We look after the club’s income and expenditure plus many more tasks that keep the club functioning for all the members to enjoy.

At present there are five vacancies on the committee:

  • Events Officer
  • Club Secretary
  • Safety Officer
  • Merchandising Officer
  • Green Lanes Officer

If you are interested in helping with any of the roles above and want more information then please contact us.

June News

Thanks to all who attended the May AGM and got involved – the short version is the club is still going strong and we have welcomed some new faces onto the commitee.

We have a new Chief Marshal – Damion Angell has stepped up after our previous Chief Marshal Arran had to step down due to other commitments. You can’t miss Damion at an event, or his monster 130 – as always, you can ask any of the marshals or committee anything. We’d far rather you ask than keep quiet and end up stuck somewhere!

We also welcomed Steph Davey who has stepped up to run the club’s long-dormant Instagram account and maybe even do some of what our Chief Marshal calls “the ticky tocks“… we are also trying to revive the club’s YouTube account.

So – if you have any photos or video from any club events please share it with us on Instagram (@shirelandroverclub), our Facebook group, or on our Whatsapp group chat – you can also get larger files to us by other methods, please contact us if you have a link to a cloud drive or just want to hand us a USB stick at the next club social!

Another new name who stepped up at the AGM is David LeSaux who has offered to help us out with club merchandise – we actually have some great stuff but too often it’s stuck in the club trailer during the chaos of getting everyone signed in at an event. Hopefully David can help us get more out there and into the hands of club members – please do ask if you are after some club merchandise or have any ideas for things we should consider selling.

In other news we have had confirmation of another event at the excellent Broxhead site near Bordon – a military site we hadn’t been to for a long time and that caught quite a lot of us out on our first time back earlier in the year! Louis has just about dried his Discovery out now…

As the sun is shining a bit more we are also running social gatherings on Portsdown Hill at the scenic parking area and home of Mick’s Monster Burger, please check the calendar or any of our social media for updates.
